  • Salary package equivalent up to $111,000pa (inclusive of base salary - SCHCADS Level 7, super and salary packaging)
  • Motor Vehicle Allowance $10, 500 per annum

The Opportunity

Berry Street are implementing an evidence-based model of care called the Teaching-Family Model (TFM). TFM is a therapeutic behavioural program which sees children living with highly trained staff, known as Practitioners in a home setting. The TFM Practitioners use teaching interactions, relationships and skills building which is targeted to reduce challenging behaviours and increase prosocial behaviours. The model is trauma informed and helps young people identify personal stressors and develop appropriate self-regulation techniques.

Key Responsibilities

This Team Leader role is known as the Teaching Family Model Consultant, the key responsibilities are:

  • Mentor, coach and supervise staff, and build a supportive team
  • Provide hands-on support through on the job coaching, formal observations and consistent verbal and written feedback
  • Day to day operations of one Residential home in Mooroolbark.
  • Possible requirements to be part of the on-call/recall service as required.
  • Provide a family sensitive and child focused service to the children and adolescents who reside in Berry Street’s residential care program.

About You

You will;

  • Have a sound understanding of the Child Protection system and the needs of the children and young people entering the Out of Home Care (OoHC) system.
  • Be a true leader who can mentor staff within the program to care therapeutically for those who have experienced the impacts of trauma and neglect.
  • Sound knowledge of Therapeutic Care principles and legislation regarding the Child, Youth & Family Act, especially as they relate to the Victorian OoHC system.
