About the Berry Street School:
Are you passionate about alternative education and determined to see change for young people with complex educational needs?
Do you have experience in overseeing and implementing school-wide curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of students?
The Berry Street School is a specialist independent school consisting of four campuses based in Shepparton, Morwell, Ballarat and Noble Park. We provide a Victorian Curriculum and VCAL program for students aged 12 - 18 years.
The Berry Street School in the South Eastern Region caters for young people primarily aged 12 to 18 years who have become disengaged from mainstream education. The school currently has an enrolment of approximately 35 students, and delivers a trauma-informed education model. The school offers Years 7 – 10 and a VCAL program.
About the role:
We are looking for an exceptional classroom teacher with experience planning, implementing and delivering an engaging curriculum based on the individual needs of the students.
Applicants should offer a combination of at least two subjects from the below list and provide details within their application:
- General classroom teaching including literacy and numeracy
- Workshop (wood and/or metal)
- Mechanics (small engines)
- Visual arts and craft
- Music.
You will support the participation of students within an inclusive educational environment implementing a restorative practice approach to behaviour management while providing positive reinforcement and a safe learning atmosphere using trauma informed teaching practices.
This is a full time, permanent role based in Noble Park however part time will be considered for the right person.
About you:
You will be VIT registered teacher with a demonstrated ability to work with young people with complex educational needs in a trauma informed setting.
You will be involved in contributing to the development and delivery of differentiated curriculum and passionate about supporting student engagement in the Berry Street Education Model.
