ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Full time
  • Fixed term until January 2020

Berry Street in partnership with Rural Housing Network limited has been successful in the tender to deliver the Shepparton Education First Youth (EFY) Foyer program. This exciting new program provides young people who are experiencing homeless or at risk of homelessness (aged between 16-24) to build sustainable lives through the provision of safe secure accommodation, mentoring and personal supports whilst they are engaged in study or training and prepares them for the transition to independent living and employment.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Shepparton Education First Youth Foyer Program, this role is responsible for a team of 7.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Assist the Manager in the effective roll out and implementation of Foyer across the Hume Region
  • Provide leadership and support to a team of Youth Development Workers
  • Provide supervision and instruction to staff and in conjunction with the Manager to ensure the day to day operations of the program are well managed.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement in the delivery of services to students.

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for someone with energy, drive and a passion for working with marginalised young people to support them to achieve an independent and sustainable life.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills in particular experience in leading, supervising, and managing people to achieve desired outcomes. A sound knowledge of homelessness, education and vocational issues that affect young people is also highly desirable.

Management experience and a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or a similar is required.

Demonstrated networks with key stakeholders within the Department of Health and Human Service, Goulburn Area would be advantageous.

REMUNERATION

  • The base salary for this position is SCHADS Level 7, Pay Point 1 which is currently $84,976.40 under the Berry Street Victoria 2014-2017 Agreement.
  • Generous Motor Vehicle allowance of $10,500 pa.
  • The value of the salary can be increased through salary packaging.
