We believe children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful. Our Vision for 2022: Together we will courageously change lives and reimagine service systems. We look forward to working with children, young people, families, carers, staff and partners to achieve this vision. Together.

The Opportunity

The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service is the lead provider and access point for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region, providing a range of support services to women and their children who have experienced family violence.

The Royal Commission into Family Violence recommended the introduction of Support and Safety Hubs in each of the 17 Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) areas. The Hubs are designed to make it easier for vulnerable families and children, including victims/survivors of family violence and families with children at risk of abuse or neglect, to access services when and where they need them. They will be visible and trusted points in the community offering safe, simple and early access to services, connecting people to the support they need.

We have three Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioner positions available - 1 x full time, permanent role and 2 x full time or part time (0.8EFT minimum) fixed term roles until 30 June 2020.

Key Responsibilities

The Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioner plays a critical role in family violence risk assessment, safety planning and engagement of women and children into any supports they need. The referrals are a combination of police referred, women calling our service directly, or referrals from other services. The service can be provided by contacting women by phone, face to face at the Hub, or conducting outreach appointments.
