About Take Two: 

Take Two is a state-wide service providing high quality therapeutic services to children and young people who have suffered significant abuse, neglect or disrupted attachment and are clients of Child Protection.

About the role:

Berry Street are implementing an evidence-based model of care called the Teaching-Family Model (TFM) into 1 - Therapeutic Residential Care in the Southern Region. TFM is a therapeutic behavioural program, which sees children living with highly trained staff, known as Practitioners in a home setting. The TFM Practitioners, use teaching interactions, relationships and purposeful skill development to help reduce problem behaviours and increase prosocial behaviours. The model is trauma informed and helps young people identify personal stressors and develop appropriate self-regulation techniques.

Overall, goals of the program include reduced problem behaviours, increased prosocial behaviours, increased social skills, accomplishment of age-appropriate tasks, and relationship development. The aim of the Program is to transition children back to general Home Based Care or back to family.

This role will support the TFM home in providing direct consultation and reflective space to the TFM Practitioners to support the embedding of therapeutic principles in their TFM Practice. The role of this TRC Clinician will be to work closely with the TFM Team to guide and support the implementation of Therapeutic plans using TFM tools and skills.

About you:

The successful applicant will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline. You will have a thorough understanding of the impact of trauma as well as a well-developed understanding of the out of home care services.  A minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting clinical work with children is required in this role.
