Berry Street believes that children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful. In this role you will use your public policy and strategic communication skills to help ensure that Berry continues to be a strong and independent voice for children, young people and families who have been harmed by abuse, neglect and violence.
In collaboration with others, you will lead initiatives to advocate for increased government investment in early intervention and prevention to enable families to be safe and stay together, reducing the numbers of children in out of home care.
You will be based in Richmond and report to the Executive Director of Strategic Engagement.
You will make an impact by:
- Leading the development and implementation of Berry Street’s public policy and advocacy agenda
- Driving awareness of the needs of those with whom we work, and engaging key influencers in support of early intervention and prevention initiatives
- Developing and coordinating responses to public policy, legislative and regulatory developments that affect our operating environment
You will have:
- An inspiring leadership presence, with a highly collaborative approach
- Significant experience in developing and implementing public policy initiatives, ideally within a state context
- Experience working in senior leadership roles across strategic communications and policy areas in government and/or the NGO sector
- A passion for changing the lives and futures of some of our most vulnerable Victorians

This role requires a relevant tertiary qualification in communications or public policy. Staff must hold a valid WWCC and current driver’s license at all times and undergo a Criminal Records Check prior to employment. Subsequently, staff must report any criminal charges or court appearances.
