Berry Street's Residential Programs provide accommodation, care and support to children and young people. With multiple sites across Victoria, our houses are staffed on a 24-hour roster, 7 days a week.  Most shifts are 8 hours in length and day and afternoon shifts span the hours of 7am and 11pm and are required to be able available to work night and stand up shifts.

As the Residential House Supervisor, you will:

  • Provide a high standard of physical and emotional care that addresses the needs of young people who may have a mild to moderate intellectual disability in addition to other complex behaviours.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, delegate responsibility and build a supportive team with a common goal to improve outcomes for young people in care.
  • Working closely with Children and Young People who may display complex issues, possible trauma affectation and disabilities.
  • Supporting Children and Young People with major behaviours of concern within a positive and therapeutic frame work.
  • Documentation and progress note keeping as required

  • A genuine desire to engage and build meaningful relationships with young people
  • Interest in contributing to the wellbeing and development of young people
  • Flexible
  • Enjoy responsibility and lots of variety in their job
  • Great communication skills and engage well with young people and staff
  • Resilience during a crisis or conflict
  • Computer savvy
  • Reflect on your practice and make improvements where possible
  • Professional to deal with services supporting young people. 

 

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Mandatory Certificate IV in Residential Care (Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention)
  • OR equivalent

  • Be willing to undertake a National Police Check with Berry Street
  • A valid Working with Children Employee Card
  • Be willing to undertake a Psychometric Assessment with Berry Street
  • A current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence (minimum green Ps)
  • Applicants must have valid working rights
