The Northern Family & Domestic Violence Service (NFDVS) is the lead provider and access point for the integrated family violence service system for women and children in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The service aims to assist women and their children to remain safely within their community and maintain a life free of violence while also addressing the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.

About the role:

The Personal Safety Initiative (PSI) is a Department of Health and Human Services (the department) initiative that aims to assist victim-survivors of family violence at high risk to remain in their homes while leaving violence. The Personal Safety Initiative Local Coordinator will ensure the effective delivery of the PSI at the local level. They will be required to work closely with key partners to ensure successful delivery and to improve the quality and effective of the initiative.

About you:

  • You will be an energetic, resilient, enthusiastic team player who is passionate about supporting woman and children experiencing family violence.
  • You will have a comprehensive understanding of the complex nature and dynamics of family violence including the impact of family violence on victim-survivors.
  • You will have solid risk assessments skills in relation to family violence and the technical knowledge to initiate practical responses.
  • You will have sound knowledge and experience working with diverse communities such as Aboriginal populations, culturally diverse communities, those identifying as LGBTI, older people and those living with a disability.
  • You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
  • You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or a related discipline.

Remuneration:

  • This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2019 as a 0.8EFT part time basis.
  • Berry Street pays above Award rates under the Berry Street Victoria 2014-2017 Agreement, the salary for this position is SCHADS Level 6 PP1 $78,738.66 gross per annum (full time equivalent).
  • The value of the salary can be increased through salary packaging.
